Illegal Buildings are Mostly in East and South Jakarta

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, admitted that flood mostly hit the area of South and East Jakarta. It is because those two areas have many illegal buildings above the water channel and riverbank.

“The worst areas of flood are South and East Jakarta due to many illegal buildings,” he said, Saturday (2/13).

Many of those buildings, such as in South Jakarta, have land certificate. “I don’t know how, maybe they got from national land certificate program (prona). But we must normalize the river,” he added.

Illegal Building on Jalan Mangga Besar VIII Demolished

He appealed to the residents to support this program. Buildings above water channel or riverbank will surely be controlled.
